Project overview:

The new district administration office in Reutlingen combines modern architecture with the highest standards of sustainability and functionality. Innovative workplaces for around 1,000 employees are being created on a 9,000 m² site. The building boasts a unique façade and meets the requirements of a BEG Efficiency House 40.

A particular highlight is the combination of geothermal energy, full-surface photovoltaic systems (annual yield: approx. 438 kWh) and heat pumps, which reduce the building's carbon footprint by almost 50 %.

Special features:

  • Energy efficiency through geothermal energy, photovoltaics and heat pumps
  • 110 - 130 cm steel fiber reinforced concrete in the foundation slab
    • approx. 36,000 m³ concrete in total

Challenges:

  • Logistics: The confined space required precise just-in-time delivery of all materials, controlled by an innovative, self-developed logistics tool based on Power Automate.
  • Quality assurance: Regular site inspections guaranteed compliance with the highest standards.

Use of lcmd:

lcmd was implemented in the form of two separate projects:

  1. Facade: Completely timed and coordinated.
  2. Shell construction and finishing: A mixture of cycle planning, Last Planner System and manual process creation enabled efficient implementation.

lcmd forms a central point of the construction meetings. A large screen in combination with tablets is used by the project management.

Thanks to lcmd, the project team was able to better visualize and control the complex processes. The ease of use, the ability to quickly create scenarios and the clear presentation were particularly appreciated. Thanks to the filter functions, everyone involved always had an overview.

Added value through lcmd:

  • Optimized planning: Quick adjustments and detailed insights into construction progress.
  • Efficient meetings: Weekly meetings with project managers and senior site managers as well as daily coordination with the trades are based on the clearly structured data from lcmd.
  • Transparency: Trades had read access and were able to access information quickly when required.

Conclusion:

The new building project of the Reutlingen District Office shows how digital tools such as lcmd play a key role even in challenging construction projects. The combination of smart technology, sustainable construction concepts and efficient collaboration makes this project stand out.
