Digital project management for major construction projects

Project overview
The Quartier Heidestraße in Berlin is one of the capital's most ambitious urban development projects. At its center is the QH Track - a modern office and commercial building with 136,400 m² of gross floor space that sets new standards for sustainable and intelligent construction.
With its strategic location in the immediate vicinity of Berlin's main train station and a planned completion date of 2023, the project places the highest demands on coordination, scheduling and quality management. The 100,000 m² floor slab building with its wide-span constructions and innovative hollow core slabs required precise coordination of all project participants.
Project challenges
Complex construction logistics: The realization of the 500-metre-long office complex in the busy Heidestrasse required meticulous planning of the construction processes and material transports.
Innovative construction method: The use of hollow-core slabs made from 100% recycled plastic to save 35% concrete and 2,000 tons of CO₂ placed new demands on schedule coordination.
Multitude of trades: From shell construction and façade construction to the highly complex building technology, a wide range of specialist areas had to be coordinated.
Sustainable construction: Certification to the DGNB GOLD standard and KfW 55 required consistent quality documentation.
Use of lcmd in the project
In this complex large-scale construction project, lcmd was used both in scheduling by Drees & Sommer and in shell construction at by BAM Deutschland AG.
Especially for a project of this size - with over 100,000 m² of floor slab area and innovative construction methods - a central platform for communication and scheduling between all project participants was of crucial importance.
Success factors with lcmd
- Central platform for all project teams
- Transparent scheduling for all participants
- Flexible adjustments in real time
- Direct linking of action points with the overall project
- Digital implementation of the lean methodology
- Intuitive operation even with complex requirements
Project results
On-time completion despite complex hollow-core slab construction, successful DGNB GOLD certification and 35% concrete savings thanks to optimized planning coordination.
